As a non-profit organization, the CKC is dedicated to encouraging, guiding, and advancing the interests of purebred dogs and their responsible owners and breeders in Canada and promoting the knowledge and understanding of the benefits which dogs can bring to Canadian society.

Clinical and genetic information on Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM) which segregates in Labrador Retrievers pedigrees is provided in this site by the scientists that identified the CNM DNA mutation and developed the test. The disease has been a serious problem in Labradors for many decades. The CNM website is no longer functioning as testing for this condition is now done routinely by genetic tests such as by the UCDavis
